Toby Samuel enters the US Open qualifying final against Cristian Garin with stronger recent momentum on hard courts. The 23-year-old Brit (ATP ~110) has posted convincing wins in the first two rounds, including a three-set victory over Billy Harris after dropping the opener, building on a strong 2026 hard-court record and elevated ranking. Garin, the 30-year-old Chilean (ATP ~135) and former top-20 player, advanced via three-setters but returns from a multi-month injury layoff with limited recent match play. Both seek main-draw entry on outdoor hard, where Samuel’s form and youth confer an edge in the eyes of traders, though Garin’s experience and serve could produce competitive sets if fitness holds. Weather interruptions remain a minor variable.
