Tommy Paul enters this Cincinnati Open third-round matchup as the clear favorite on outdoor hard courts, bolstered by his higher ranking, greater experience in Masters 1000 events, and recent form after recovering from a foot injury that sidelined him earlier in the summer. The American defeated Hubert Hurkacz in the second round and holds a prior win over Vallejo from their 2026 Houston encounter on clay. Adolfo Daniel Vallejo, ranked around No. 65-70 and on a strong run that included victories over Kyrian Jacquet and Valentin Vacherot, represents an underdog with upset potential given his improving results and youth, though the surface and opponent experience favor Paul’s consistency in rallies and serving.
