Jan-Lennard Struff enters this European Open round-of-16 indoor-hard matchup as the clear favorite, reflecting his higher ranking (No. 58) and greater ATP experience against Gauthier Onclin (No. 178). The German advanced comfortably with a 7-6(3), 7-6(3) win over Marcos Giron in the opening round, while the Belgian local advanced through qualifying before a loss in the final qualifying round. Struff, a 6-foot-5 right-hander with a career-high ranking of No. 21, holds a sizable edge in serve effectiveness and recent hard-court results despite a mixed 2026 record. Onclin has shown promise with multiple Challenger titles this season but has limited main-draw experience and enters after a short turnaround. The pair has no prior head-to-head meetings.
