Blake Ellis holds a significant edge in this Phan Thiet 3 Challenger first-round matchup on hard courts, reflected in trader consensus favoring the higher-ranked Australian. Ellis brings stronger recent form from multiple 2026 challenger events across Asia and the U.S., including deep runs in Miyazaki and Wuning, while O'Connell, ranked outside the top 900, advanced through qualifying with a three-set win over Ichikawa. Their July head-to-head saw O'Connell prevail in straight sets, but Ellis's greater experience at this level and consistent results position him as the frontrunner. Surface familiarity and match fitness for both players remain key variables in this closely contested opener.
