Mochizuki, the higher-ranked player at No. 117 and sixth seed in qualifying, enters this US Open Q3 match on outdoor hard courts after straight-sets wins over Milavsky and Shick, while Passaro (No. 207) has also advanced in two sets against Gill and Gentzsch. The Italian holds a 1-0 head-to-head edge from a 2023 hard-court Challenger meeting. Both players post similar recent win rates near 50 percent across surfaces, with Mochizuki showing stronger hard-court results in the lead-up. No confirmed injuries or withdrawals affect either side, and the encounter remains closely contested given comparable recent form and the high-stakes nature of securing main-draw entry.
