Alex Michelsen enters the US Open first round on outdoor hard courts as the clear favorite against qualifier Federico Cina, reflecting his higher ATP ranking near No. 45 and greater main-draw experience. The 22-year-old American posted solid recent hard-court results in Montreal and Cincinnati, including wins over Francisco Cerundolo and Jesper de Jong, though he fell to top players like Taylor Fritz. Cina, a 19-year-old Italian ranked No. 181, arrives with strong qualifying momentum after three victories, including a retirement win, but holds just a 1-6 main-draw record this season and limited hard-court success at the ATP level. With no prior head-to-head meetings, traders' consensus highlights Michelsen's superior baseline consistency and serve on this surface against Cina's relative lack of elite experience.
