Fabian Marozsan enters the US Open first-round matchup against Michael Zheng with a slight edge in experience and ranking (No. 63 vs. No. 107), yet recent form and head-to-head results tilt attention toward the 22-year-old American. Zheng defeated Marozsan in straight sets at the 2026 Cincinnati Open after qualifying, extending a strong hard-court surge that includes multiple wins over higher-ranked opponents and a 70% win rate over the past year. Marozsan reached the Winston-Salem quarterfinals with victories over Miomir Kecmanovic and Martin Damm but fell to James Duckworth, leaving his 2026 record near .500 amid inconsistent results on hard courts. The pair meets for the second time on outdoor hard, where Zheng’s improving baseline game and recent momentum create a closely contested dynamic despite Marozsan’s Grand Slam pedigree.
