Pedro Vives Marcos and Eduardo Ribeiro meet in the first round of the Porto Challenger on outdoor clay, their first career encounter. Vives Marcos enters with stronger recent clay momentum after multiple ITF titles and strong showings in 2026, including an 80% win rate across his last 10 matches and a retirement victory over higher-ranked Roberto Carballes Baena in qualifying. Ranked No. 538, the Spaniard has converted break points efficiently and posted solid results on the surface where he holds the majority of his career wins. Ribeiro, the higher-ranked Brazilian at No. 373, arrives after a three-set qualifying win but carries an even 18-18 clay record this season. Both players' serve-return stats are comparable, leaving the edge to current form and the home-surface comfort for the Spanish player in this closely matched opener.
