Kachmazov, a 24-year-old Russian with a career-high ranking of 161 and substantial Challenger experience on hard courts, faces 18-year-old Romanian Ghetu in Istanbul 3 qualifying. Kachmazov enters after a three-set win over Wessels on September 6 and holds a 10-8 record in 2026, primarily on hard. Ghetu arrives on strong momentum with multiple ITF clay titles and deep runs in Romania events through late August, plus a dominant 6-1, 6-1 qualifying win, though his hard-court sample remains limited. The first career meeting pits Kachmazov's established baseline game and surface familiarity against Ghetu's aggressive returns and current form edge, creating a closely contested matchup reflected in balanced trader pricing.
