Jakub Mensik enters this Cincinnati Open round-of-32 matchup as the clear favorite, reflecting his No. 16 ranking, stronger overall form, and hard-court pedigree that includes a 2026 Auckland title and French Open semifinal run. The 20-year-old Czech has compiled a 29-14 record this season with consistent results at Masters 1000 events, while Rinky Hijikata sits at No. 95 and carries a 10-14 mark despite a solid Cincinnati run that included upsets over Gael Monfils and Luciano Darderi. With no prior head-to-head history, the first-time meeting on outdoor hard courts favors Mensik’s serve and experience, though Hijikata’s recent momentum and willingness to grind out three-setters could keep the contest competitive if the underdog maintains high first-serve percentages.
