Ignacio Buse enters the US Open first-round matchup against Marcos Giron with clear momentum advantages, having captured his second ATP title of 2026 at Winston-Salem on hard courts just days earlier after strong semifinal and final performances. The 22-year-old Peruvian, ranked around No. 34-36 and seeded 32nd, also defeated Giron earlier this season on grass at Queen’s. Giron, the 33-year-old American ranked near No. 77-78, arrives with a difficult recent record marked by early exits and inconsistent results on the surface. The hard-court setting at Flushing Meadows favors Buse’s current form and baseline consistency, though Giron benefits from home support and greater Grand Slam experience. Trader consensus reflects these disparities in ranking, head-to-head history, and recent results.
