Arthur Gea enters the US Open qualifying third round as the top seed with a clear ranking edge (around No. 85-86) and strong recent hard-court form, including a first ATP title win at Los Cabos in early August plus straight-sets victories over Sumit Nagal and Clement Chidekh in New York. Nishesh Basavareddy (around No. 148-163) has generated interest through back-to-back qualifying wins, including an upset of Luka Mikrut, building on prior results such as a Roland Garros victory over Taylor Fritz. Both right-handers meet for the first time on outdoor hard courts, where Gea holds a higher career win rate; the American's home-crowd support and aggressive baseline play represent the main variables that could extend the match or produce an upset in this best-of-three encounter.
