Hugo Gaston enters the US Open qualifying draw as the clear favorite against lower-ranked Guido Ivan Justo, reflecting the significant gap in ATP ranking (Gaston near No. 97 versus Justo around No. 233) and recent hard-court activity. Gaston has compiled a modest 4-8 record in 2026 but brings Grand Slam experience and consistent results on faster surfaces, while Justo’s recent matches have been concentrated on clay challengers with limited exposure at this level. The hard-court conditions in New York favor Gaston’s movement and baseline game, creating substantial barriers for an upset. Any late injury withdrawal or unexpected surface adjustment could alter the outcome, though current trader consensus heavily prices in the higher-ranked player advancing from this first-round qualifier matchup.
