Taylor Fritz enters this Cincinnati Open third-round match as the clear favorite due to his top-10 ranking, superior experience on hard courts, and strong 2026 form that includes a Washington title and consistent results against higher-level competition. The 28-year-old American has posted a 28-13 record this season with multiple deep runs at Masters events, giving him a significant edge in baseline rallies and serving under pressure. Daniel Merida Aguilar, the 21-year-old Spaniard ranked No. 40 after reaching a career high earlier in August, brings momentum from his Croatia Open title and solid Challenger results but lacks prior ATP head-to-head experience against elite players like Fritz. Their first meeting on outdoor hard courts highlights Fritz’s advantages in consistency and return game, though Merida’s recent wins demonstrate upset potential if he maintains aggressive play early. Trader consensus reflects these gaps in ranking, recent performance, and match toughness.
