Jaime Faria enters the Cincinnati Open third-round matchup as the consensus favorite on outdoor hard courts, driven by his ranking edge (No. 79 vs. Walton’s No. 98) and strong recent form that includes a first career top-10 victory over Ben Shelton in the prior round. The Portuguese player, making his debut against the Australian, benefits from added momentum and experience in Masters 1000 events, while Walton advanced with a straight-sets win over Ignacio Buse but has yet to face comparable opposition. Their first career meeting lacks historical data for direct comparison, leaving surface speed, return effectiveness, and serving consistency as key variables that could influence the outcome in a closely contested encounter.
