Diego Dedura-Palomero enters this US Open qualifying match on hard courts as the higher-ranked player at No. 194, bolstered by his first Challenger title in Tampere on clay in July and a climb into the top 200. The 18-year-old German has shown strong recent form despite a first-round exit in Hamburg, while 31-year-old Frederico Ferreira Silva sits at No. 231 and arrives after a quarterfinal loss in Liberec. Silva maintains a solid hard-court record this season but faces a significant age and momentum gap against a rising left-hander in the early rounds of a Grand Slam qualifier. Head-to-head history remains limited, leaving surface-specific adaptation and current fitness as the primary variables traders are weighing.
