Zizou Bergs, the No. 31 seed ranked around No. 37, faces Botic van de Zandschulp in their first ATP meeting during the US Open third round on hard courts. Bergs advanced past Jesper de Jong in four sets after dropping the second, extending his solid recent form that includes a strong grass-court stretch. Van de Zandschulp, ranked No. 70, arrives with significant momentum after a straight-sets upset of No. 6 seed Alex de Minaur in the second round, marking his best result since earlier 2026 hard-court events. The Dutchman’s history of US Open breakthroughs, including a 2021 quarterfinal run, adds context to the matchup on a surface where both have shown competence but where Bergs’ higher ranking and seeding typically reflect greater consistency entering later rounds.
