Zizou Bergs enters the US Open second round as the higher-ranked player at world No. 37 against Jesper de Jong at No. 100 on outdoor hard courts. Bergs secured his first ATP title on grass at Eastbourne earlier in 2026 and advanced past Carlos Taberner in four sets, while de Jong reached this stage for the first time after a five-set comeback win over Francesco Passaro that was suspended by rain. Bergs holds the head-to-head edge from their lone prior meeting and shows stronger baseline consistency and recent hard-court results. De Jong’s recent form includes several early exits on the hard-court swing, though his serve and return stats remain competitive. Both players completed first-round matches over multiple days, setting up a contest where Bergs’ ranking, experience in deeper Grand Slam runs, and overall match-play edge shape trader consensus.
