Cameron Norrie enters the US Open first-round matchup against Luca Van Assche holding a 3-1 head-to-head edge, including a 2-0 mark on hard courts, with his most recent win coming in Metz in 2024. Norrie, ranked No. 33 and a former top-eight player, brings greater Grand Slam experience and a stronger hard-court record to the best-of-five encounter on Court 5. Van Assche, at a career-high No. 40 after claiming the Quebec City Challenger title on hard earlier in August, has posted solid recent results with seven wins in his last ten matches but limited success translating that form to majors. Previews highlight Norrie’s higher floor in extended rallies and consistency as key edges on the outdoor hard surface, though both players enter with comparable recent win rates.
