Lorenzo Musetti enters this Cincinnati Open second-round matchup as the strong favorite against Daniel Altmaier, reflecting his top-15 ranking and stronger 2026 results on outdoor hard courts. Musetti holds a 2-1 head-to-head edge, including a three-set win over Altmaier in Cincinnati qualifying in 2022, and brings greater consistency after reaching quarterfinals at the Australian Open earlier this year. Altmaier, ranked around 60, secured a first-round victory over Coleman Wong but carries a more uneven record with limited success against higher-ranked opponents. The hard-court surface and Musetti’s serve-return balance further tilt the implied probability in the Italian’s favor for this Masters 1000 encounter.
