Mert Alkaya holds a narrow edge in trader consensus for the Istanbul Challenger first-round matchup against Tiago Torres, driven by his one-point ranking advantage at No. 300 and a 1-0 head-to-head lead that includes a straight-sets win on hard courts in April. Both players post comparable 2026 win rates near 57-58 percent, with Alkaya showing stronger hard-court results overall and benefiting from competing on home soil in Turkey. Torres, ranked No. 352, brings recent momentum from ATP-level victories over Nikoloz Basilashvili and Alejandro Tabilo, plus solid ITF form on the surface. The evenly matched contest on hard courts, where serve and return consistency often decide outcomes, leaves room for either player to advance depending on early break-point conversion and set-three execution.
