A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
Alabama's 7th congressional district remains a majority-minority seat long held by Democrats, with incumbent Terri Sewell seeking a ninth term against Republican nominee Ammie Akin following her unopposed Democratic primary and the GOP contest concluded in mid-August. Redistricting adjustments shifted other Alabama districts toward Republicans but left AL-7 structurally favorable to the Democratic nominee based on voter composition and historical results exceeding 60 percent. Sewell's established record and the absence of competitive primary challenges have reinforced trader consensus around a strong Democratic outcome. Late developments such as a major scandal, significant health issue affecting the incumbent, or an unexpected national political shift could narrow the margin, though structural factors make such changes unlikely before the November 2026 general election.
