The Dodgers enter this September 2 matchup at Dodger Stadium as heavy favorites, backed by Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s dominant 12-8 record and 2.56 ERA with elite strikeout and WHIP numbers against a Cardinals staff that has posted a 6.84 ERA over its last 10 games. Los Angeles holds an 82-56 record and leads the NL West while ranking among the league’s top offenses and defenses, despite multiple bullpen and rotation injuries. St. Louis sits at 69-70, 17 games back in the NL Central and on the fringes of the wild-card race, with recent form hampered by key absences including Masyn Winn and JJ Wetherholt. Jordan Walker’s .288 average and 28 home runs provide the Cardinals’ primary offensive threat, but the team’s road performance and inconsistent pitching limit its edge in this series. The Dodgers’ home strength (40-27) and superior depth reinforce trader consensus favoring the home side.
