Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos enter their US Open first-round doubles match against Brandon Carpico and Nikita Samuel Filin with substantial advantages in doubles ranking, recent hard-court form, and professional experience. The Brazilian pair, ranked near sixth globally, captured consecutive ATP Masters 1000 titles in Montreal and Cincinnati in August 2026, adding to their four titles on the season and positioning them for Nitto ATP Finals contention. Carpico and Filin, Ohio State teammates, earned entry via the American Collegiate Player Wildcard Playoffs and hold limited ATP-level results, primarily at futures events. The hard-court surface and best-of-three-sets format further align with Luz/Matos’ recent success, though early Grand Slam rounds can feature variance from any pairing.
