  • Syrian troops enter Yemen by December 31, 2026?30¢30 %

Recent reports from Yemeni officials indicate that Syria and Saudi Arabia reached a defense cooperation agreement during President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s Riyadh visit, with plans for an initial deployment of around 3,000 Syrian troops to support operations against Houthi forces, and hundreds of personnel already positioned along the Saudi-Yemeni border, including some directing drone activity from the Yemeni side. Syrian authorities have described broader troop deployments as premature, emphasizing domestic priorities and advisory or training roles under the new pact. The market’s low implied probability for Syrian regular forces entering Yemen by year-end reflects uncertainty over confirmation of combat entry versus limited support missions, amid ongoing Houthi strikes on Saudi targets and Riyadh’s push for additional allies. Resolution hinges on verifiable movements of officially affiliated Syrian armed forces into Yemeni territory before the deadline.

Regler

This market will resolve to "Yes" if Syrian troops enter any part of Yemen by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". "Syrian troops" refers to active military personnel officially affiliated with Syria. Only members of the regular armed forces of Syria will qualify. Foreign fighters, private military contractors, mercenaries, or any other personnel recruited, paid, trained, equipped or directed by Syria who are not members of the Syrian armed forces will not qualify, regardless of whether they operate under Syrian command or on Syria’s behalf. Members of the armed forces of any other state, including those operating as part of a Syrian-led coalition, will not qualify. "Enter" means that the Syrian troops, even temporarily, deliberately operate within any part of Yemen, other than as prisoners of war or as emissaries as described below. Bombardment, sabotage, naval presence offshore, or temporary disruption of activity will not qualify on their own. An announcement, threat, or claim of Syrian troop entry will not qualify without actual entry being established. The entrance of Syrian emissaries for the purpose of negotiating an agreement or other diplomatic or commercial endeavors will not alone qualify. If the occurrence or timing of a potentially qualifying entry cannot be determined on the specified date, 11:59 PM ET, this market may remain open for three calendar days (ET) after the specified date. If Syrian troop entry into the specified territory is not established by this market's resolution sources by the end of the third calendar day, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No". The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Syria, including the Syrian Ministry of Defense; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
