What will S&P 500 (SPX) hit by end of December 2026?

Recent economic data releases and Federal Reserve communications remain the dominant drivers of S&P 500 price action, with traders closely tracking inflation metrics and labor market indicators to gauge the pace of monetary policy easing. The latest CPI and nonfarm payrolls figures have reinforced expectations for measured rate cuts, supporting equity valuations while Treasury yields and the Fed funds target rate continue to anchor broader risk appetite. Corporate earnings trends, particularly in technology and financial sectors, have shown resilience relative to analyst estimates, though margin pressures from higher input costs warrant monitoring. Key upcoming catalysts include the next FOMC meeting and December economic releases, which could shift market-implied odds on year-end index levels by altering growth and rate outlooks.
