José Maria Neves enters the November 15, 2026, Cape Verde presidential election as the clear frontrunner, backed by the ruling PAICV and recent endorsements from Prime Minister Francisco Carvalho and former President Pedro Pires. His first-round victory in 2021 and emphasis on institutional stability during the campaign have reinforced trader consensus reflected in current market pricing. The six-candidate field, including Joana Rosa of the opposition MpD, features limited polling data and a short official campaign window that began October 29. A first-round majority avoids a potential runoff on November 29. While Neves holds a commanding position, unforeseen developments such as major shifts in voter turnout or late campaign events could still influence the final outcome before resolution.
