Leylah Fernandez enters as the clear favorite against Mananchaya Sawangkaew in this US Open second-round match on outdoor hard courts, reflecting her higher ranking (No. 31-33), 2021 finalist pedigree, and straight-sets first-round win over Shuai Zhang. Fernandez has shown flashes of strong form, including a dominant victory over Mirra Andreeva in Toronto, though her 2026 results have been inconsistent outside that run. Sawangkaew, ranked No. 94 and on a breakout year with a WTA 125 title, Wimbledon third-round appearance, and an opening-round upset of Panna Udvardy, brings momentum and improving hard-court results but lacks prior main-draw experience against top-50 opponents at this level. This is their first meeting, with Fernandez holding the edge in experience and consistency.
